PRP for Hair Loss
in Orlando, FL
For patients seeking a natural hair restoration solution, PRP can be a great option. With the restorative benefits of PRP, this treatment can stimulate natural hair growth to produce a fuller, thicker head of hair. Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery offers PRP for hair loss treatments to patients living in Orlando, Orange County, and Central Florida.
What is PRP for Hair Loss?
In addition to the many skin rejuvenation benefits of platelet rich plasma (PRP), it is also used as a therapeutic treatment for hair loss. It can be effective for male pattern baldness, stress induced alopecia, or overall thinning of the hair. PRP therapy for hair loss is a 3-step treatment in which a person's blood is drawn, the plasma is isolated, and then injected into the scalp. Platelet rich plasma triggers natural hair growth and maintains it by increasing blood supply to the hair follicles, consequently increasing the thickness and strength of the hair shafts.
How Much Does PRP for Hair Loss Cost in Orlando, FL?
The price of your PRP hair restoration treatment may vary depending on many factors, including the number of treatment sessions needed. For your convenience, the Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery offers financing options through Carecredit® and Alphaeon™. During your consultation, we will discuss the cost of your procedure. We also accept checks, cash, and credit cards, Carecredit® and Alphaeon™ financing.
What are the Benefits of PRP for Hair Loss?
Many patients choose PRP over other hair restoration treatments, such as hair transplants, for a number of reasons. PRP for hair loss offers benefits that include:
- Non-surgical treatment
- Minimal downtime
- Naturally stimulates hair growth
- Suitable for both men and women
What is the PRP for Hair Loss Procedure Like?
PRP Hair Therapy is a three-step process. During your appointment, your blood is drawn from a vein in the arm, and immediately put into our state of the art centrifuge machine. Here, it is spun down to isolate the plasma from the rest of the blood. Then, the platelet rich plasma is injected directly into the areas of the scalp where hair loss or thinning is apparent.
What Can I Expect After My PRP for Hair Loss Treatment?
There is minimal downtime following PRP hair restoration treatments. Following the injections, patients may experience "pressure" in the scalp that may feel similar to a mild headache. This will dissipate after 12-24 hours. We advise patients to avoid NSAIDs such as Motrin or Aleve, fish oil, vitamin E, alcohol, or anything else that might promote blood thinning on the day of the procedure.
Are the Results from PRP for Hair Loss Permanent?
In order to achieve optimal results with the PRP hair restoration treatments, we may recommend multiple treatment sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Your full results may not be visible until 3 to 6 months after your final treatment session, at which time you will notice an increase in natural hair growth and hair health. While the treatments will be long-lasting, they are not permanent and cannot prevent future hair loss or hair thinning. We recommend that patients receive maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months in order to maintain their results.
